Meg Whitman was born in 1956 in Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island, New York. Margaret C. Whitman, her given name, graduated with a degree in economics from Princeton University in 1977. She then went on to obtain an MBA from Harvard Business School. Ms. Whitman worked for Procter and Gamble from 1979 until 1981 and then worked fro Bain and Company for ten years. After a three year stint at Walt Disney serving as Senior Vice President of Marketing for the Disney Consumer Products Division she went on to serve as President of the Stride Rite Division of Stride Rite Corp. From 1995 to 1997, she was President and CEO of Florists Transworld Delivery (FTD), but left to become the General Manager of Hasbro Inc.'s Preschool Division.
